Profile
Fieldforce Services is a leading Australian supplier of metering, billing and data management services to utilities and councils.
A pioneer in this industry, the company has a strong commitment to developing environmental solutions in the area of energy and water conservation.
Fieldforce is currently contracted under the Sydney Water Corporation Residential Water Efficiency Retrofit Program, as well as a number of other energy authorities, to provide water and energy conservation services to residential premises.

Challenge
Fieldforce Services engaged Dataforce to develop a system for managing the scheduling and tracking of retrofit appointments.
A centralised and scalable design was needed to store and manage the large amounts of data generated by these field-based operations, which involve the coordination of Fieldforce’s own personnel as well as contracted tradespersons.

Solution
Dataforce designed and developed a web-based application to be used by the call centre staff handling appointment bookings and schedules. Data storage is in an Oracle database, which allows for a high level of functionality, automation and future growth in data volume.
Using the system, Fieldforce is able to schedule retrofit appointments and assign appointments to plumbers in the field.
Dataforce has continued to work closely with Fieldforce to extend the system’s capabilities in response to emerging requirements, making incremental improvements to day-to-day business processes.
More than one million households have received retrofit services since the software was launched in 2000.

Benefits
The ASAP software provides secure data storage and management, and by streamlining administrative processes has made a major contribution to efficiency and productivity in Fieldforce’s retrofit operations.
For example, the system streamlines processes for the dispatch, scheduling and invoicing of contract plumbers, and for the tracking of installed and replaced products.
Comprehensive reports are also a key feature of the system.
The success of the ASAP system led to its successful adaptation to support Fieldforce’s Enviro Saver program, and has equipped Fieldforce to tender successfully for multiple retrofit contracts throughout Australia.

Currently Fieldforce is providing retrofit services under the Home WaterWise program (Queensland Government), the H2Overhaul program (Country Energy, NSW), Project Aquarius (Central Highlands Water, Vic) and every Drop Counts (Sydney Water, NSW), with other regional contracts expected to come on stream in the months ahead.
